I love taking family portraits, but unlike macro or landscapes there is a bit of a preconception to get over. People have a hard time accepting free family portraits; they are concerned they need to pay me or otherwise make it up to me. But if I take a photo of a bug or a flower or a beautiful sunset, they don’t pay me. Family portraits are just a fun subject.
I recently did a set for some friends and I am happy with how they came out. It is the first time I used the Nikon for such work, and the first time I used a really high quality flash.
